First: Reba McEntire, one of country's most twangy, yet recognizable and singular voices, has consistently chosen material that captures life's dramatic moments of consequence, whether it's the decision to leave a romantic coupling, face up to a failed relationship with a parent, or handle the passing of a loved one. And second: in the course of her 23-year career, several of her 33 #1 hits slipped up to the top of the charts virtually unnoticed, and seem hardly memorable today (e.g., "I Know How He Feels"). Yet the best of her work ("Whoever's in New England," "Rumor Has It") remains as emotionally resonant today as when it first appeared. Not only a fine singer, however, McEntire picked up the mantle of woman-to-woman songs first carried by Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette. Long before Martina McBride began singing songs of social relevance, McEntire had been encouraging and empowering women to change their lives--to look beyond their roles as dutiful wives and mothers ("Is There Life Out There")--if perhaps more subtly than McBride. Reba #1's contains two new tunes: "You're Gonna Be," a mother's loving lessons for her child; and "Love Needs a Holiday," which recounts a married couple's much-needed motel getaway. The latter sounds like it could be the theme song to a spin-off of McEntire's TV sitcom, but the former, much like her most-loved songs, comes packed with wisdom for anyone attempting to navigate the unsettling storms of life. --Alanna Nash | | | |

Excellent Collection Of All Her No.1 Hits! Jun 02, 2010 This is a perfect introduction to anyone new to the world of Reba McEntire(if there's any left)and great for her fans as it has lots of old hits that have been slightly overlooked.
Disc one has all her older, more traditional country hits from the 80's and early 90's,like the greats You're The First Time I've Thought About Leaving,Somebody Should Leave,Whoever's In New England,I Know How He Feels,You Lie and Rumor Has It.
Disc two has all her more Pop/Country hits from the late 90's like Is There Life Out There,The Greatest Man I Never Knew,It's Your Call,And Still,How Was I To Know and I'm A Survivor. There's also the classic duets The Heart Won't Lie with Vince Gill,Does He Love You with Linda Davis and If You See Him,If You See Her with Brooks&Dunn.
This collection is an essential for all Reba fans and for people new to her music.
Very good purchase Apr 12, 2010 CD was excellent and in perfect condition. Reba is such a magical artist and this Cd took me back to so many years ago when her music was fresh and new and pulled on the heart strings. Wonderful collection of her music!
REBA!!! Dec 24, 2009 If you love reba you will love this. It has all my favs on it. Sombody, I am surviver You'll be ITS ALSOME!!!
couldn't afford every individual CD, so... Oct 12, 2009 A lot of the low-star reviewers claim fans already have all of this music. But many of these were first released as tapes, so some want to move up to CDs, and there are the ones over the years that you didn't get because you spent your allowance on another artist's album and forgot to get later when it wasn't front-and-center in the store.
Yes, you only really need one "greatest hits" CD and many could get the MP3 of the new songs- but not every fan has purchased the previous ones (or wants to download the songs).
So I regularly buy "greatest hits" CDs because it is more cost-effective than buying tons of individual CDs. Sure, not every song hit #1, but they are loved by fans and many are ones I'd have liked to have anyway! "greatest hits" are the songs that people hope the artist does when they go to a concert, and the added ones are likely ones that someone somewhere would be wanting- especially if they bought this for cost-efficiency!
truly ALL the greatest on this album Jan 28, 2009 This CD set really has all the hits worth listening to that Reba has recorded. A good investment for the Reba fan.
