Perfectly Clear  (Audio CD)

Jewel's new country disc definitely looks backward rather than forward for its inspiration, with a pronounced acoustic background and the piercing, declarative sound of fiddles, steel and dobros rather than electric guitars forming the musical settings. Her songs explore themes ranging from empowerment ("Stronger Woman," "Perfectly Clear") and anger ("Anyone But You") to betrayal ("Till She Feels Like Cheating") and romantic fulfillment ("Everything Reminds Me of You," "Two Become One.")

The voice is clear and steady, and while she won't remind anyone of Loretta Lynn or Patsy Cline, these numbers are far more immersed in the qualities and sensibility of vintage country than the lexicon and tone of several contemporary hitmakers.

4Nice one!  Aug 23, 2008
Nice country album for Jewel! I really liked it. All the songs are nice to listen, and 3 or 4 coul be hits without problem.
Another excellent album from Jewel.

4Talent, no question.  Aug 19, 2008
Jewel is talented, no questions. She has a little of everything on this album including a little of her famous yodeling. I have a lot of Jewels CD's and this one is another good one. There are defiantly some songs that I can skip over, like most albums anyone ever buys, but there are others that I could listen to over and over such as Anyone But You. I am happy that she finally did something that she has been wanting to do for years and I hope that her album does well.

2What the heck?  Aug 14, 2008
I don't get it. Jewel lost something after CD #3 of hers.

Her voice is more nasaly and little girly and I feel like she's trying too hard. I think maybe she should stick to just songwriting. I'm sure she could make some other artists shine with her words, but not her own voice.
